love: cheeky totes
chip chop totes are too cute for words!
my personal fave is the dali-inspired one.
dali + the 'stache trend = pure awesomeness!

love: a single man
what a beautiful film.
i loved every single thing about it:
the aesthetic, the soundtrack, the mise en scene, the era,
the way the camera zoomed and focused on the smallest details,
the dialogue, the dark, subtle humour,
the romance, the catharsis, the tragedy, the narration...
and of course
christopher isherwood, tom ford, matthew goode,
and the man who put flesh and blood and unparalleled charm to austen and fielding's mr. darcy...
colin firth.
and yes, if you must know,
i did cry...

see: yellow submarine

how very, very cool is this!?
for those people who love tea as much as i do,
this is perhaps one of the coolest things i have seen.

all i can hear in my head right now is:
'we all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, yellow submarine...'

sometimes i daydream
of paris or prague
in the winter
and somehow i picture everything
in a shade of
the warmest white,
the palest grey,
and the pinked cheeks of girls who live
in these cities where magic exists in the everyday...

all of us have
once-upon-a-time's
as if our lives were a book.
and sometimes it is hard
not to want to flip back
to old pages
just to make sure
that everything up to where you are now
is where you are supposed to be
and that everything before
is just as it was and will remain unchanged
no matter how many times
you go back
the story remains the same:
once upon a time you were 19
and it was July
and you believed in meant-to-be's...

how inspiring is this canadian label/designer?
(here is a little secret:
well, not so much anymore...
i keep thinking about going to art/design school.
i would love to go to parsons...
but there's this nagging, practical, superego side of me that
thinks pursuing something like this is almost indulgent.
or that i am not talented enough.
perhaps i should feel more than think...
sigh.)

how cool is it that each label looks hand-written
and the little pastel floral print looks like pretty doodle-ry!?

taste: pho
pho (traditional vietnamese beef noodle soup)
is an awesome comfort food.
but what's more awesome is this
tableware set designed specifically for this dish
(and meant to look like a traditional vietnamese lantern)
by designer omid sadri.

love: eames chair
i have professed my love for mr. eames
and his beautiful chairs many times before.
and still, like an infatuated school girl,
i swoon and swoon.
and one day, when i have my very own pieces,
i shall swoon some more.

touch: cuddly clouds

so, while perusing the internet, i luckily stumbled upon
the artist (donna wilson) who makes
the soft lambswool blankets that can
make you cozy as a posie
that i mentioned in my prior post.
and since the sun has just been to shy
to come out this summer,i figured
why not share some more of her work
that make rain clouds just a little
more easy to love when sunshine has been
so, so scarce.

touch: paper & wood art
by lizzie thomas

a surprise of delicate paper cut-outs "inspired by the 'hidden seasons' of japan and scottish highlands" unfold from hinged wooden boxes.
neat right?
