this quirky little short
for vanessa bruno, s/s '10
featuring lou doillon
is full of whimsy and sweet languor all at once...

love: messy beds

there is something i will always love about
unmade beds with wrinkled white sheets
made soft by the tangling and untangling
of legs and arms and fingers and hair...

taste: laduree macarons

when i bought these
laduree was having a collab
with louboutin...
so i got mine in a little limited edition box
which featured louboutin designs all over it!

there was also this man, who was making
his purchase right before me
and he bought GBP500 worth!
i almost wanted to ask if he wouldn't mind
just paying for mine too.

letter: dear proverbial fork in the road

you should really come with a sign or
some sort of warning that tells me i am approaching you...

are you just a false dilemma or
a mere bifurcation brought on by my
dramatic self?
are you a test of grown-up-ness?

no one makes quite as grand an entrance
at the most inopportune time
as you do...

so two things i've now got (besides pretty coral-coloured nail polish):
1. promotion
2. post-grad admission offer

neither comes with a sign that says
'guaranteed happiness, success, and satisfaction'...

so now what?
sigh.

golden

vancouver winter olympics 2010
canada finishes with the most gold medals
and third in the overall rankings!
i am so, so proud to be canadian
and not just because of all the wins,
but because every athlete that participated
especially those who won medals
showed incredible grace and humility.
they were truly inspiring!

GO CANADA!

love: cheeky totes

chip chop totes are too cute for words!
my personal fave is the dali-inspired one.
dali + the 'stache trend = pure awesomeness!

letter: dear penguin postcards

i really like you guys.
i wish i had my own old school red mailbox and one of you were in it,
sent by someone from far away:
maybe an old friend, a once-upon-a-time lover, or just a stranger
who lives somewhere where it doesn't snow...

love: a single man

what a beautiful film.
i loved every single thing about it:
the aesthetic, the soundtrack, the mise en scene, the era,
the way the camera zoomed and focused on the smallest details,
the dialogue, the dark, subtle humour,
the romance, the catharsis, the tragedy, the narration...
and of course
christopher isherwood, tom ford, matthew goode,
and the man who put flesh and blood and unparalleled charm to austen and fielding's mr. darcy...
colin firth.

and yes, if you must know,
i did cry...

' i don't know which is harder:
to learn to love someone who loves you,
or to hope that the person you love, loves you back...

everyone is allowed one from time to time...

see: yellow submarine

how very, very cool is this!?
for those people who love tea as much as i do,
this is perhaps one of the coolest things i have seen.

all i can hear in my head right now is:
'we all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, yellow submarine...'

love: scandinavian winter dressing

the scandinavians know how to keep warm
without compromising fashion.
sartorial success sans hypothermia -
really and truly, this is what Canadians like myself
strive for in the bitter cold months of winter.

i love sunday suppers
as it inspires many of us to take dinners and table settings
to a whole new level!
brilliant people - artists, renowned chefs, stylists, photographers, etc -
all come together and participate in this 'class-cookin-dining experience'.
anyway, i really really love the winter dinner series.
i love the richness of the colour palette, and yes,
i love, love, love the terrariums that were
incorporated in this setting!
